FROM DARKNESS TO PERILOUS TRUTH…

Life is short in Signe’s village. Monsters and undead infest the unforgiving mountains, and a brutal winter is prowling at the door. But when her closest friend is murdered in secret, Signe must undergo a dangerous journey in order to find the truth – and exact justice for the dead.

Sword’s justice, if need be.

Yet sometimes justice is not what one finds at the end of an oath of vengeance, and sometimes, it takes more than a blade to ensure the dead are truly at rest.

Rooted in a Dark Ages inspired world, with nods to Old Norse, Anglo-Saxon and Scandinavian myth, Oathbound is a standalone dark fantasy novel.

  1. Emily Hoisington

Fantasy is not the genre I typically reach for, but this book pulled me in and would not let me go until the very last page! A tale of undaunted courage in the face of peril and as Tolkien so poignantly penned- knowing not when to take a life, but spare one. A must read for both fantasy and non-fantasy readers alike! Can’t wait for book two.

  2. Quinn Wolfert

This book left a strong impression. The author’s choice to weave Norse mythology into the narrative was inspired, providing a familiar context that helps readers immerse themselves in the story’s world immediately. Tapping into well-known mythological themes allows the author to dive into the plot quickly without heavy-handed world-building. This familiarity also creates an interesting dynamic, leading readers to make assumptions based on established tropes—making the twists and unexpected developments much more engaging.

The pacing was another standout aspect. It keeps the story moving swiftly while giving enough attention to character development and world-building. I particularly appreciated how character growth was handled. Signe, the protagonist, is a mortal without battle-hardened experience. Her struggles and gradual victories ground her character, making her relatable and resilient. The fact that her accomplishments are hard-won adds depth and resonance to her journey.

The plot is thoughtfully constructed, balancing revelations and surprises to keep readers invested.

I sincerely hope this book reaches a broad audience. A story is truly alive only when it’s shared in the minds of its readers, and I would love to see this book spark the imagination of many.
