In DEFIANCE: Duel in the Black Keep, you are a lone Warrior facing a vengeful Giant in a ruined castle.
Your friend has been terribly wounded and cannot be moved. You are your friend’s last defense. To run away would be the coward’s path, and you are an honorable warrior.
Therefore, you will have to kill the Giant.
But the Giant is cunning, merciless, and immensely strong. If it catches you, it will kill you. You stand no chance in hand-to-hand combat.
Other than your bow, you have one single advantage: as fortune would have it, the Giant’s eyes were destroyed in your last battle with it. It is completely blind, and will be hunting the darkened keep for you by sound and scent only. You have a small chance, though you will have to get close in order to make sure your arrows find and pierce their mark.
With bravery, stealth, cunning, and a little luck, you may be able to defeat the Giant and save your friend.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- A Warrior miniature on a 25mm base (cut and glue paper standee included)
- A Giant miniature on a 50mm base (paper standee included!)
- Terrain to match the board setup image (14” by 24” board, also included in rulebook!)
- A dozen (12) or so six-sided dice for the game’s dice rolls
- An opaque dice bag
- 6 additional blue dice for the Activation Bag (they may be any color, so long as they match each other, but for simplicity they will be referred to as Blue Dice)
- 1 additional red die for the Activation Bag (this dice may also be any color, so long as it is differently colored from the other dice in the Activation Bag while also being the exact same size, texture, weight and shape: it should be indistinguishable by feel.)
- Measuring tape or ruler
- The Nocked Arrow token printed and ready to play, or some other token to mark whether your arrow is Nocked. (A card is provided with the standees)
- The Dodgeroll token to mark whether you have readied a Dodgeroll. (Token provided)
- A dice cup. (Any kind of small cup or bowl will do.)
